Sources & edition notes

Check the current rule.

Sources on this website were checked on 8 October 2026. Legal rules and procedures can change. This page records an important difference between the inspected book edition and current official guidance.

The Employment Tribunal edition

The Amazon sample inspected for volume 4 identifies edition T4-EN-1.0-2026-07-28 and states “Law checked as at: 28 July 2026”. The product page lists 372 pages. This website does not claim that the book has been revised after that date.

Time-limit changes from 1 October 2026

Acas’s current guidance distinguishes events before 1 October 2026 from events on or after that date. For many later events it gives a limit of six months minus one day; the earlier rule for many claims is three months minus one day. Exceptions and transition rules apply, including specific Scottish contract-claim rules. A deadline must be checked for the actual claim and event dates.

Read Acas’s current time-limit guidance. Do not use this page as a deadline calculator. Internal appeals do not themselves extend tribunal time limits, and early conciliation rules need separate attention.

Use the current official forms and directions

The official ET1 page was updated on 1 October 2026. Use its current form or service. For hearing preparation, follow your tribunal’s directions and the HMCTS hearing guidance.

How these guides are written

The free guides provide original organisation methods and fictional preparation examples. Their source lists identify official guidance and, where relevant, the jurisdiction of Citizens Advice material. A source check is not an individual legal assessment or a professional endorsement of the books.

Know when to get advice

Seek timely advice where the claim, eligibility, respondent, limitation date or remedy is unclear. A qualifying settlement agreement requires eligible independent advice. This website and the books cannot substitute for it.
